Emily Bott correctly pointed out that their headline, "Prison mele in Calif. deepens budget worries" changes the entire meaning of the news story. Mele meaning "song" in 'Olelo Kanaka and melee meaning "a confused fight, skirmish, or scuffle."
How hard is it to see the difference between mele and melee?

The Maui News, it's good for compost and not much else.
